Elections to the statutory and ad-hoc committees of Municipal Corporation of Delhi concluded today. BJP candidates were elected to the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman in a total of 6 ad-hoc committees and 2 statutory committees. On this occasion, Leader of House in MCD Sh Pravesh Wahi termed the Aam Aadmi Party as anti-Dalit and accused it of continuously insulting the Constitution and the democratic process.
It is noteworthy that the election of the committee had to be postponed due to the chaos created by the Aam Aadmi Party in the election of the ad-hoc committee (welfare of Scheduled Castes and implementation of their quota).
Wahi said that the Aam Aadmi Party not only prevented a Dalit councilor from becoming the mayor for six months during its tenure, but now it has also demonstrated its insensitivity towards the rights of the Scheduled Castes during the election of ad-hoc committees.
The Leader of house informed that the election of the committee for welfare of scheduled castes and implementation of their quota in the corporation house was deliberately disrupted by the councillors of Aam Aadmi Party.
They disrupted the voting process by snatching the ballot papers, tried to break the ballot box and poured water on it. Not only this, an attempt was made to make the atmosphere violent by scuffling with the security personnel.
He said that due to this anarchy of AAP councillors, the election of the committee had to be postponed, which is shameful for democracy. This clearly shows that Aam Aadmi Party has no concern with the interests of the Dalit community.
Wahi said that Aam Aadmi Party neither cares about the constitution nor the legislative process. When it was in power, it did not conduct elections of special committees and ad hoc committees for the entire two and a half years. Now when the BJP government has started the process of these elections in a transparent manner, AAP is constantly obstructing it.
Wahi stressed that the BJP is committed to protecting the rights of every section under the Constitution and there will be no compromise with the dignity of the Dalit community. This anti-Dalit mentality of the Aam Aadmi Party will be exposed before the public.
