In a firm move to enforce property tax compliance, the Assessment & Collection Department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) today carried out a distraining action against Delhi Tamil Education Society Sr. Secondary School, located at Sadhu Waswani Marg, Pusa Road, New Delhi – 110005.
This action was undertaken under Section 156A of the DMC Act, 1957 (as amended), following persistent default by the school in payment of property tax. Despite the issuance of multiple statutory notices by the Corporation under Sections 153, 123D, 156, and 446 of the DMC Act, the school management failed to respond or clear the outstanding dues.
The operation was executed on 24.06.2025 by MCD officials from Circle-11 with the support of local police personnel from Rajender Nagar Police Station. As part of the action, the Principal’s office and several other rooms were sealed, while ensuring that classrooms remained unaffected so that students’ learning was not disrupted.
MCD requests all property tax owners to pay due taxes on time to avoid action by the Corporation.
