24×7 assistance and monitoring for flood-affected people: CM Rekha Gupta

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that her government is closely monitoring the flood situation. Government teams are providing 24×7 assistance to affected people. They are being continuously supplied with food, water, medical aid, toilet facilities, and other essential help. Fodder is also being provided for cattle belonging to farmers in the affected areas, and residents are being shifted to relief camps wherever necessary.

According to the Chief Minister, the water level of the Yamuna is currently receding, so the people of Delhi need not panic. She herself is closely monitoring the situation, while the administration remains fully alert, and public representatives are meeting residents of affected areas to resolve their difficulties. The Chief Minister further stated that she has instructed senior officials to assess the crops damaged by the floods so that appropriate compensation can be considered.

Regarding the flood situation in the capital, the conditions in impacted areas, and the essential assistance being provided, Chief Minister Mrs Rekha Gupta today held an online review meeting from her camp office тАШChief Minister Jan Seva SadanтАЩ with the Divisional Commissioner and all District Magistrates, issuing clear and necessary directions. Giving details of the meeting, the Chief Minister informed that the water in the Yamuna is continuously receding and it is likely that the situation will soon return to normal. Nevertheless, her government remains fully engaged in supporting those impacted.

She emphasised that all senior officers have been instructed to maintain round-the-clock vigil in affected areas and ensure proper arrangements for food, water, medical care, sanitation, and other essential services in relief camps. The Chief Minister underlined that safeguarding the lives and property of those impacted by this natural calamity is the foremost responsibility of her government, and no negligence will be tolerated.

The Chief Minister added that due to continuous rainfall and flooding of the Yamuna, people residing in the riverтАЩs low-lying areas had to be evacuated. Her government has set up relief camps for these residents, where proper care is being ensured.

Mrs Rekha Gupta further said that all District Magistrates have been given specific instructions to pay special attention to the elderly, women, and children in the affected areas. According to her, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) is also keeping constant watch. Officials have also been instructed to coordinate with local social organisations wherever required, so that timely and effective help reaches the people. District Magistrates have also been asked to ensure the protection of cattle and other animals belonging to farmers, with arrangements for fodder and related needs.

According to the Chief Minister, government teams are continuously monitoring the regions to ensure that any major damage is averted. She stated that this is both a moral and administrative duty of her government. District Magistrates have also been instructed to carry out assessments of flood-damaged crops so that appropriate compensation can be considered.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also shared that DelhiтАЩs Members of Parliament, government ministers, MLAs and other public representatives are visiting affected areas, helping people, and ensuring that their problems are addressed. This public participation is making relief work even more effective.

She also informed that water from a few drains in neighbouring Haryana is entering the fields and low-lying areas of DelhiтАЩs border regions. She directed the concerned District Magistrates to resolve this issue promptly and coordinate with HaryanaтАЩs departmental officers to ensure that the drainage system there is fixed. District Magistrates have informed that work is in progress.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the lives and safety of those impacted are her governmentтАЩs top priority. The entire administrative machinery is active in response to the continuous rainfall and flooding. Senior officials, disaster management teams, and health services are on full readiness. The government is fully prepared to deal with any emergency that may arise.
