The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of staging a publicity stunt to take credit for welfare work under the AAP government. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Leader of Opposition (LoP) Ankush Narang revealed that BJP Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh will hold a public event on August 11 to hand over money from the Teachers’ Welfare Fund to families of deceased MCD teachers. He also plans to distribute reappointment letters to employees who had already received compassionate jobs during the AAP government’s tenure. Narang called out the “four-engine government” of the BJP for failure in governance and decency, stating that the BJP has replaced governance with mere photo sessions and has infected MCD as well. He also exposed BJP’s plans to exploit compassion-based employees for PR, stating that if BJP truly wants to work in MCD, it should take real steps, launch fresh recruitments, and stop stealing AAP’s work for publicity.
Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh has refuted allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding compassionate appointments and the disbursement of the Teacher Welfare Fund. He criticized the party for distorting facts and playing petty politics by obstructing welfare initiatives for municipal employees and their families. Singh revealed that when AAP held power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi until June 2024, 27 eligible dependents of deceased teachers were made to run from pillar to post for compassionate appointments, causing severe mental distress to affected families. After the Bharatiya Janata Party assumed governance, priority was given to resolving these long-pending compassionate appointments, and appointment letters are now being issued to eligible dependents. Singh assured that the BJP-led administration is now disbursing the Teacher Welfare Fund with complete transparency and accountability.
