Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) Commissioner Ashwini Kumar will present the revised budget estimates for 2025–2026 and the budget estimates for 2026–2027 today. The presentation will take place during a special meeting of MCD’s Standing Committee. The meeting will be held on Friday, 5 December 2025, at 12 noon in the Satya Narayan Bansal Auditorium (2nd Floor, A-Block), Civic Centre.
The MCD administration has requested media representatives to cover this important meeting. Along with this, some key guidelines regarding entry and coverage have also been issued.
Important Guidelines for Media:
- It is mandatory for all media personnel to carry their ID cards.
- Live streaming of the meeting on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter will be strictly prohibited.
- Video recording and still photography of the proceedings will not be allowed.
This special MCD meeting is considered extremely significant for determining policy direction and development plans for the upcoming financial year in the capital.
According to sources, the Commissioner’s budget proposal is expected to place special emphasis on the recent guidelines issued by the Delhi government. In recent weeks, several meetings have been held between the Delhi government and the MCD, during which directives were issued regarding sanitation management, air pollution control, and other matters. It is expected that the Commissioner will base several corrective measures in the budget on these directives.
MCD’s financial condition is weak, and the corporation has been compelled to borrow from the Delhi government. In such a situation, the Commissioner may introduce some new financial proposals to increase revenue. However, no official information has been disclosed on this matter.
Sources, however, indicate that proposals such as increasing parking fees and revising other property tax–related charges are being seriously considered. This year’s budget proposal is also likely to give special importance to modernizing sanitation services, improving drains and the drainage system, digital upgradation in schools, strengthening healthcare facilities, and projects related to pollution control in the capital.
