In a decisive operation safeguarding consumer health, the Eastern Range-I Crime Branch of Delhi Police has exposed a dangerous racket that was reprinting fake expiry dates on expired food and cosmetic products. A massive stockpile was seized before it could reach the market, and one accused has been arrested.

Acting on credible intelligence, a team led by Inspector Ashish Sharma along with SI Prakash, SI Guman Singh, ASI Sandeep Chawla, HC Amit, and HC Manish, under the supervision of ACP Sunil Shrivastav, raided a godown at Gali No. 9B, Pushta Road, Jagatpur, Delhi.

Inside, police discovered an illegal setup operated by Omprakash Sharma (40), resident of Ghaziabad, U.P.. He was allegedly engaged in:
- Storing expired food and cosmetic products
- Erasing original expiry dates and batch numbers
- Reprinting fake manufacturing and expiry dates
- Repacking and relabeling products to appear genuine
- Supplying tampered goods to unsuspecting consumers

The seized items included popular daily-use brands such as Nestle Sugar Free, Glucon-D, Dabur Gulabari lotion and rose water, Clean & Clear face wash, Vicks Vaporub, Dabur Lal Tail, Odomos, Olive Oil, Dabur Chyawanprash, and Savlon antiseptic. Printing frames, labeling materials, and equipment used for tampering were also recovered.
Officials emphasized that such practices not only defraud consumers financially but also pose grave health risks, especially with products like antiseptics, nutritional supplements, and food items.
Legal Action:
A case has been registered under FIR No. 35/2026 at PS Crime Branch, invoking sections of the BNS and Trade Marks Act. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain, identify wholesale distributors, and uncover retailers involved.
