A construction worker lost his life after falling from a height while carrying out roof work at an under-construction building, raising serious concerns about safety violations and illegal construction activities.
According to sources, the incident occurred while labourers were laying the roof slab on the third floor of the building. During the process, one of the workers reportedly lost balance and fell from the upper level, suffering fatal injuries. He was declared dead following the fall.
Preliminary information suggests that the construction was being carried out on the third floor of the structure, which is allegedly an illegal construction. Locals claimed that the building was already in a dilapidated condition, making the ongoing work extremely dangerous for labourers.
Residents in the area have also alleged negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible for the illegal construction and lack of safety measures at the site.
The incident has sparked calls for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) West Zone to take cognizance of the matter and initiate appropriate action against the violators. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including possible violations of building and labour safety norms.
