As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Traffic Police, under the guidance of Addl. Commissioner of Police Satyavir Katara, organised a week-long ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to rekindle patriotic pride among citizens. The initiative aimed to strengthen the emotional bond people share with the Tricolour — a timeless symbol of India’s sovereignty and glory — and to inspire respect for the values enshrined in the Constitution.
Through a series of creative and interactive activities, the campaign encouraged citizens to display the national flag with honour, while also reflecting on the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters who secured the nation’s liberty.
Tiranga Yatra – Marching for National Pride

A highlight of the celebrations was the spirited Tiranga Yatra, in which around 250 students from various Delhi schools participated with great enthusiasm. The rally was flagged off by Shri Shashank Jaiswal (Traffic HQ-I) from the Traffic Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, and followed a route from TT Park Baba Kharak Singh Marg via BKS Road, before returning to the park.
Students marched with unyielding energy, proudly carrying the Tricolour and chanting patriotic slogans that echoed through the streets. The rally transformed the city’s thoroughfares into a moving celebration, drawing cheers from bystanders and creating an atmosphere filled with national pride and togetherness.
Traffic Prahri – Uniting Citizens for Safer Roads

On this special occasion, the Delhi Traffic Police also honoured the contribution of Traffic Prahri — dedicated citizen-volunteers who work alongside the traffic police to ensure road safety and discipline. Often called the “eyes and ears” of the Delhi Traffic Police, these vigilant individuals help identify and report violations, encourage safe driving habits, and support law enforcement efforts.
More then 60 Traffic Prahri attended a special programme at the Traffic Training Park Punjabi Bagh, where Sh. Anil Tomar, ACP/Road Safety Cell Traffic, engaged them in an interactive session. The event also highlighted the Traffic Prahri mobile application, a platform through which any citizen can register and report traffic violations in real time. Reports leading to enforcement action are rewarded, recognizing the crucial role of public participation in improving road safety.
Senior officers — including Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyavir Katara, and DCPs Shashank (Traffic HQ-I) and S.K. Singh (Traffic HQ-II) — commended both the students and the Prahri for their dedication, creativity, and patriotic spirit. They noted that just as the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign unites citizens under one flag, the Traffic Prahri initiative unites the community in a shared mission to make Delhi’s roads safer, more disciplined, and more respectful of the law.
