As part of the “Delhi’s Freedom from Garbage” campaign, the Mayor of Delhi, Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, today planted a sapling and also carried out a cleanliness drive at Krishan Lal Sharma Park in Paschim Vihar. Municipal Councillor Shikha Bhardwaj and senior officers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were also present on the occasion. The event symbolised collective efforts towards building a clean and green capital.
On this occasion, the Mayor appealed to the citizens of Delhi to plant more and more trees. He stated that greenery not only enhances the beauty of the city but also improves the environment. He emphasised that when such initiatives are adopted collectively, they play a vital role in combating pollution and ensuring a healthy future for the coming generations.

The Mayor also urged citizens to actively participate in the “Delhi’s Freedom from Garbage” campaign. He said that community participation is essential to achieve the goal of a clean Delhi. He assured that the MCD will continue to organise cleanliness and plantation drives across the city and encourage citizens to join hands in making Delhi a model city for cleanliness and environmental protection.
The Mayor further informed that the MCD is focusing not only on cleanliness and greenery in public places, but also on running awareness programmes in schools, markets, and residential colonies. Through these programmes, children, youth, and people from all sections of society are being made aware of the importance of environmental protection and waste management so that the campaign can take the shape of a mass movement.
