The Public Health department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is conducting a special, intensive checking drive to stop mosquito reproduction in order to avoid vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, which are spread by Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes. Aedes mosquitoes breed in clean stored water, such as drums, coolers, tin, tires, kabad, flower pots, money plants, overhead tanks, etc., according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Public Health department.

The reduction of water stagnation at the source is a relatively simple way to stop mosquito breeding. Construction sites, parks and nurseries, government buildings, police stations with Malkhana, DTC Depots, DDA, Delhi Jal Board, drains, water bodies, monuments, and tourist attractions are among the departments that are most likely to harbor mosquitoes.

MCDs Public Health department regularly checks all these vulnerable spots and departments in campaign mode. Working in this direction Monuments and Tourists Spots like Humayuns Tomb,National Zoological park,Qutub Minar complex,Lotus Pond Sunder Nagar Nursery etc. were checked for breeding of mosquitoes.During the special drive 55 Monuments and Tourist places were checked. Breeding of mosquitoes was found in 16 places and destroyed on the spot. 16 legal notices and 6 Prosecutions have been launched against the defaulters.
