The campaign has been initiated in response to the call of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The Government of India has entrusted us with the responsibility to ensure that cleanliness is carried out across Delhi on a war footing. The Minister emphasized that cleanliness efforts must be visible on the ground so that the people of Delhi can feel and see the difference.
Senior officials from MCD, NDMC, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Information Technology Department, Revenue Department, Education Department, and District Magistrates had attended the meeting. Officials have shared relevant data, future action plans, and key information regarding the campaign with the Urban minister Ashish Sood.
Minister directed the officials to intensify publicity efforts in unauthorized colonies, slums, and underdeveloped settlements to ensure the benefits of the campaign reach everyone.
He further advised all officials to involve Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), community groups, and public participation in the campaign. These groups should be motivated to encourage cleanliness within their communities.
The Education Minister instructed the Education Secretary to coordinate with principals of all government and private schools to involve students in the campaign. He emphasized that the campaign should not be limited to school premises but should extend to nearby parks, streets, temples, and marketplaces. Students should be encouraged to become “Cleanliness Ambassadors” and inspire their families to maintain cleanliness throughout the month.
Sood also directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that during the first two days of the campaign, all officers and staff in government offices carry out cleanliness activities in their respective workplaces.
The Minister asked the Urban Development Secretary and MCD to develop a dedicated cleanliness portal where RWAs and citizens can register. The portal should allow users to upload photographs of areas cleaned and those that need cleaning.
He further instructed the Revenue Secretary to constitute teams of three senior officials each from the department, who would engage with RWA members and raise awareness on cleanliness and hygiene.
Sood also directed the officials to include celebrities in the campaign to boost public engagement. Additionally, street plays, songs, posters, and loudspeaker announcements should be used to spread awareness.
The Chief Secretary was also directed to involve all PSUs, banks, NGOs, and cooperative organizations based in Delhi in the campaign.
