In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police has busted a high-value night burglary case in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area, arresting one accused and apprehending two juveniles. Police have recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹1.15 crore, including gold and silver jewellery, cash, and a motorcycle used in the crime.
Burglary Discovered After Overnight Break-In
The incident came to light on February 22, 2026, when a PCR call reported a burglary at a house and shop in Possangipur Village. Upon reaching the spot, police found that the staircase wall had been broken and locks on multiple floors were damaged. Items inside the premises were scattered, indicating a forced entry and thorough theft operation.

The complainant, who operates “Ashok Lifafa Store” at the same address, had closed the premises on the night of February 21 and left for his rented accommodation. The following morning, he returned to discover that unknown persons had broken in during the night and stolen a significant quantity of gold jewellery, diamond ornaments, silver articles, and cash.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation was initiated.
Police Team Cracks Case Using Surveillance and Intelligence
A dedicated police team, led by SHO Inspector Kuldeep Kumar Tiwari and supervised by senior officers, launched an intensive investigation using technical surveillance and local intelligence inputs.
On February 24, acting on secret information, police apprehended two juveniles near Possangipur Park. During sustained interrogation, the main accused, Divyansh Sharma alias Babbu (18), a resident of Possangipur Village, was arrested. Police revealed that the accused, along with the juveniles, conspired and executed the burglary with a common intention.
Stolen Property Worth ₹1.15 Crore Recovered
At the instance of the accused, police recovered:
- Gold jewellery weighing approximately 650 grams
- Silver articles weighing about 3 kilograms
- Cash amounting to ₹7,00,119
- Other valuable stolen items
- One motorcycle used in the commission of the crime
The total recovered property is estimated to be worth ₹1.15 crore.
Investigation Ongoing
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of the accused in other criminal cases and to identify any additional accomplices.
The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Darade Sharad Bhaskar, DCP West District, who commended the team for their swift and professional action in solving the case.
