MCD Will Set Up Shelter Homes in 12 Zones for addressing Stray Dog issue

In a vast and densely populated city like Delhi, the issue of stray dogs has emerged as a major urban public health and civic concern. Through this committee, the MCD aims not only to provide a safe shelter to these dogs but also to ensure a clean and secure environment for its citizens.

The growing problem of stray dogs was discussed in the previous meeting of the Standing Committee. Taking cognizance of this concern, the committee decided to form a dedicated sub-committee to work out a practical and sustainable solution.

The issue of stray dogs in the national capital is becoming serious with each passing day. From the perspective of public health and safety, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is taking necessary steps in this direction. Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Satya Sharma, informed that a sub-committee has been constituted to establish shelter homes in each zone of the city to effectively address the issue.

She stated that the committee will prepare a complete action plan for the construction and operation of these shelter homes. This will include identifying suitable locations, assessing resource requirements, budget estimation, and coordinating with NGOs and expert organizations associated with public health and animal welfare. The committee will develop suitable models for each zone and submit its report to the Standing Committee within a month. The committee will not only focus on animal welfare but will also ensure that public safety, sanitation, and health concerns arising from stray dogs are effectively addressed.
