MCD Extends CGHS Rate Medical Treatment Facility to Sitting Councillors and Their Dependents: Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh

In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare support for representatives, the Mayor of Delhi, Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, today informed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has extended the facility of medical treatment for its sitting councillors on Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates in private healthcare institutions.

The Mayor stated that under this initiative, sitting councillors of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and their eligible dependents will now be able to avail treatment at CGHS rates in empanelled private hospitals, eye centres, dental clinics and diagnostic centres for medical investigations and treatment. This facility will ensure that councillors have access to healthcare services at regulated rates.

Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh said that councillors play a crucial role in addressing the civic issues of citizens and remain actively engaged in public service throughout the year. Ensuring access to reliable and affordable medical facilities for them and their families is therefore an important step towards supporting their well-being.

The Mayor further added that extending the CGHS rate facility will enable councillors to receive medical consultations, diagnostic tests, and treatments from private healthcare institutions. This move will also help streamline the process of availing medical services through recognized healthcare providers.

He emphasized that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi remains committed to improving welfare measures for its elected representatives and employees. The decision reflects the Corporation’s continued efforts to strengthen institutional support systems and ensure that those serving the public have access to essential healthcare facilities.
