No development work was done in the past two and a half years, but now positive steps will be taken towards development – Satya Sharma, Chairperson, Standing Committee

The election for the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was successfully held today. BJP’s Satya Sharma was elected Chairperson with 11 votes. Her opponent from the Aam Aadmi Party, Praveen Kumar, got 7 votes.

For the post of Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee, BJP’s Sunder Singh defeated AAP’s Mohini Jeenwal. Sunder Singh got 11 votes, while Mohini Jeenwal got 7. All 18 members of the Standing Committee cast their votes.

In this important election of the Standing Committee, the Mayor, Raja Iqbal Singh, conducted the election for the Chairperson of the Standing Committee as the Presiding Officer. The Mayor congratulated the newly elected Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson and said that now, with the formation of the Standing Committee, we will collectively achieve new milestones in development.

After the election, Satya Sharma expressed her gratitude to everyone. She said that no developmental work had taken place in the past two and a half years, but now positive steps will be taken toward development, and everyone’s cooperation will be essential. She added that their goal is to work with dedication to make Delhi clean and beautiful.

Satya Sharma also expressed grief over the plane crash in Ahmedabad. A two-minute silence was observed by everyone present in the assembly.
