Chairperson of the Standing Committee Satya Sharma today directed the Public Health Department officials to carry out spraying of insecticides in flood-affected areas and relief camps near the Yamuna to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
Sharma stated that additional DBC (Domestic Breeding Checker) employees should be deployed in the relief camps to ensure timely prevention of mosquito breeding and to effectively control diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
She further directed that a special team of DBC employees to be constituted to make the spraying of insecticides in systematic and intensive. This team will regularly cover the affected areas in a coordinated manner under the supervision of the concerned zonal officers, ensuring that no area is neglected and that spraying is carried out in every camp on time.
In addition, she directed that chlorine bottles and ORS packets to be distributed among the citizens living in relief camps so that drinking water remains safe and people are protected from waterborne diseases.
Sharma emphasized that in coordination with the Delhi Government, every possible assistance must be provided in the flood-affected areas. Along with this, an extensive public awareness campaign should be launched. As part of this campaign, posters, stickers, and banners carrying health messages should be displayed, and information should be disseminated through loudspeaker announcements (munadi).
Sharma said that the MCD’s objective is to provide a safe and healthy environment to the affected citizens. She directed the officials to conduct regular inspections of the relief camps and ensure immediate action in case of any problem.
