Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi Rural Development Board and the Trans Yamuna Area Development Board, set up to accelerate development works across hundreds of villages in Delhi and the Yamuna river belt, have now been formally strengthened. To enhance the functioning of these boards, local MLAs have been inducted as members, along with the relevant officials, ensuring smooth and effective implementation of their work. The chairmen of these boards have been accorded the status of Cabinet Ministers in the Delhi Government.
According to an official order, Rajkumar Chauhan, MLA from Mangolpuri, has been appointed Chairman of the Delhi Rural Development Board, while Arvinder Singh Lovely, MLA from Gandhi Nagar, will serve as Chairman of the Trans Yamuna Area Development Board. Both leaders have previously served as Ministers in the Delhi Government and bring with them long years of governance experience. The position of Chairperson of the Trans Yamuna Area Development Board has been designated with the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Delhi Government.
The Trans Yamuna Area Development Board will include as members regional MLAs Mohan Singh Bisht, Abhay Verma, Om Prakash Sharma, Jitender Mahajan, Ajay Mahawar, Gopal Rai, Veer Singh Dhingan, Surender Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Dr. Anil Goyal, Sanjay Goyal, Ravikant, Ravinder Singh Negi and Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad.
In addition, the Board will include senior officials such as the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi; the Development Commissioner, GNCTD; ACS/Principal Secretaries/Secretaries of Finance & Planning, PWD, Irrigation & Flood Control, Revenue, Power and Urban Development; the Vice Chairman, DDA; the CEO, Delhi Jal Board; the CEO, DUSIB; and the Chairmen of the Ward Committees of Shahdara (South) and Shahdara (North).
Special invitees to the Board will be Harsh Malhotra, Union Minister of State and MP from East Delhi; Manoj Tiwari, MP from North-East Delhi; and Kapil Mishra, Delhi Government Minister and MLA. These steps, the Chief Minister said, will ensure faster implementation of development projects and closer coordination between elected representatives and officials. A similar process is being adopted to strengthen the Delhi Rural Development Board as well
