Over 150 Food Samples Collected Across the Capital, Including Paneer, Khoya, Spices and Raw Non-Veg Items
In view of the ongoing festive season, Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh today chaired a meeting with officials of the Food Safety Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, directing them to carry out intensive inspections across the city to ensure that food items being sold during the festivals meet all safety and hygiene norms.
As part of the ongoing inspection drive, officials have collected 20 samples of food itemsтАФprominently including paneer, khoya, and spicesтАФfrom different parts of Delhi. In addition, 139 samples of raw non-vegetarian items were also collected for testing. The department has assured that all consumable products are being rigorously checked and monitored to safeguard public health during the festive period.
Dr. Singh also instructed officials to conduct thorough checks on packaged drinking water brands, given the wide variety of products available in the market. He emphasised that every brand must strictly adhere to standard safety and quality protocols.
Further, the HonтАЩble Minister directed the department to inspect all chains of sweet shops operating under the same brand name to verify if they qualify under food safety norms and maintain uniform standards across outlets.
The Food Safety Department assured the Hon’ble Minister for the intensive ground-level inspection and informed that they are receiving full cooperation from the Delhi Police, who are responding promptly to calls for joint inspections and enforcement.
