MCD South Zone organises ‘Raahgiri programme’ as part of ‘Delhi ko Kude se Azadi’ Swachta campaign

MCD South Zone organised a Raahgiri programme in Vasant Kunj under ‘Delhi ko Kude se Azadi’ Swachta campaign with the aim to increase public awareness towards cleanliness and strengthen citizen participation.

Area Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat, Deputy Commissioner South Zone Dilkhush Meena, Raahgiri Foundation Founder Trustee Sarika Panda, FIT India athletes, RWA members, school children, volunteers, sanitation staff and zonal heads of all departments were present on the occasion.

Speaking about the initiative, Mayor of Delhi Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh stated that keeping Delhi clean, and green is our primary duty, and it requires collective efforts. He appealed to every resident to actively take part in cleanliness drives and support MCD in maintaining cleanliness in their areas, emphasizing that community participation is essential in keeping the city clean.

The event was organized in collaboration with Raahgiri foundation and other partner NGOs to showcase their inspiring work through paintings, aerobics, and cultural dance performances on the theme of тАЬWaste-Free DelhiтАЭ.

The programme began with administering of тАШswachta oathтАЩ of keeping the city clean under the guidance of DC South zone Dilkhush Meena to all participants.

Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat urged the residents and participants to collectively make Delhi- clean and waste free. He said that cleanliness is a continuous process and unless we get the support of the citizens, we will not be able to clean Delhi.

Over 400 people gathered early in the morning to celebrate fitness, cleanliness and community spirit. The morning witnessed energetic Zumba and fitness sessions, classical dance by the Gopika Vijay and Drummers by Roy Robbets.

Popular games like badminton, cricket, carrom and ludo were seen being played on the roads. The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony recognizing the efforts of active citizens.

MCD remains committed to organizing such inclusive community events to foster a spirit of civic responsibility and environmental awareness.
