MCD’s Karol Bagh Zone organises Cyclothon under “Delhi’s Freedom from Garbage” campaign

The Karol Bagh Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) today organised a Cyclothon under the ongoing “Delhi’s Freedom from Garbage” campaign. The event witnessed the gracious presence of Delhi’s Deputy Mayor Mr. Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Chairperson of the Standing Committee Mrs. Satya Sharma, and MLA Mr. Umang Bajaj. A large number of citizens, young cycling enthusiasts, and social workers participated enthusiastically in the event. The objective of the Cyclothon was to spread awareness among citizens about cleanliness, environmental conservation, and the importance of health.

On this occasion, Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav said that the “Delhi’s Freedom from Garbage” campaign will infuse new energy into the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission. He appealed to the people to take responsibility not only for maintaining cleanliness within their homes but also in their surroundings. He also urged every citizen to contribute towards environmental protection by planting at least one tree in their mother’s name. He assured that such programs will continue to be organised in the future to sustain citizens’ awareness and participation.

Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta, a strong resolve has been taken to make Delhi clean and beautiful. She emphasised that cleanliness is not just a one-day or one-month effort, but a continuous lifestyle. Highlighting citizens’ participation as the true key to the success of the campaign, she urged everyone to develop the habit of maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings, taking care of parks and public spaces, and being vigilant about waste management. She expressed confidence that with collective efforts, Delhi can be transformed into a clean, beautiful, and environmentally friendly city.

MLA Umang Bajaj, in his address, said that programs like Cyclothons are highly beneficial not only for personal health but also for the health of the environment. Cycling helps reduce pollution, improves fitness, and decreases traffic congestion. He appealed to citizens to participate in such initiatives and play their role in building a clean, green, and healthy Delhi.
