Chairperson of the Standing Committee, MCD Satya Sharma, held a comprehensive review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of all 12 zones of the Corporation. The meeting focused on key issues related to civic amenities, infrastructure development, sanitation, drain cleaning, and waterlogging.
Sharma stated that the primary objective of the meeting was to review the progress of on-ground development works, identify major challenges at the zonal level, and formulate a collective strategy with the Deputy Commissioners to ensure effective solutions.
Surveillance on Waterlogging-Prone Areas
Keeping the monsoon season in view, Sharma directed the officials to monitor all waterlogging-prone areas closely. She emphasized the deployment of additional pump sets and adequate staff in such areas to ensure quick water drainage in the event of heavy rainfall, so that citizens do not face any inconvenience.
Core Focus on the Stray Animal Issue
Stray animals pose a threat to public safety and increase the risk of road accidents. She directed officials to address these issues seriously and take prompt action, particularly against illegally operating dairies.
Regular Field Visits with Local Councillors
Sharma directed the officials to conduct regular field visits in coordination with local councillors to accurately assess the real issues faced by residents. She stressed that councillors are directly connected to the public and that effective coordination with them will lead to better identification of problems and faster, more impactful resolutions.
Sharma said that every official and employee of the Corporation must remain committed to providing improved civic services to the people of Delhi, and must maintain accountability and transparency in all aspects of their work.
Strengthening the Swachh Bharat Mission
During the meeting, Chairperson directed that the Swachh Bharat Mission be implemented more robustly across all zones. She emphasized that ensuring sanitation is the true identity of the MCD and that any form of negligence will not be tolerated. Special emphasis must be given to waste collection, segregation of wet and dry waste, and regular cleaning of roads and drains.
Strengthening the Public Grievance Redressal System
Sharma highlighted the importance of timely and satisfactory resolution of public grievances in building transparency and trust in the Corporation’s functioning. She directed that the public grievance redressal mechanism in all zones be made more responsive and efficient.
Emphasis on Greening, Beautification, and Green Waste Management
