Municipal Corporation of Delhi gets major financial boost; Satya Sharma welcomes CM’s development push
Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma has welcomed the special financial assistance announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, calling it a historic and visionary step toward the capital’s comprehensive development.
Sharma said the financial support will significantly strengthen civic infrastructure, sanitation systems, education, and community facilities. She noted that a major allocation of approximately ₹1,330 crore has been approved for the construction, repair, and strengthening of roads less than 60 feet wide. Nearly 1,000 kilometers of roads will be upgraded, improving traffic flow and helping reduce dust pollution across the city.
Welcoming the ₹2,300 crore long-term sanitation plan, Sharma said the deployment of mechanical road sweeping machines and electric litter pickers will modernize cleanliness operations. She emphasized that these measures will ensure more efficient, transparent, and environmentally friendly sanitation management while contributing to pollution control.
The Standing Committee Chairperson also praised the allocation of ₹50 crore for improving primary schools run by the civic body and an additional ₹50 crore for the repair and upgrade of community buildings. She said these investments will enhance educational facilities for students and improve access to better infrastructure for local residents.
Sharma added that the Chief Minister’s initiative to empower local bodies will accelerate development work and improve public services. She described the financial assistance not merely as budgetary support but as a significant investment in Delhi’s future.
She expressed confidence that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will complete all projects within the stipulated timeframe and ensure quality execution, enabling citizens to benefit from cleaner surroundings, stronger infrastructure, and improved civic amenities.
