In a decisive move to safeguard public health, the Drugs Control Department of the Government of NCT of Delhi conducted a special raid and enforcement drive at Mehrauli, South Delhi. The drive was carried out under the directions of Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Health Minister, Delhi, with the objective of ensuring the availability of safe, effective and quality medicines to the public.
During the action, enforcement teams of the Drugs Control Department carried out 37 inspections of retail and wholesale drug firms in the area. As a result, 26 firms were found violating provisions of the Drugs Rules, and appropriate legal action has been initiated against the defaulting entities under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules.
Further, 265 samples of various medicines were drawn during the inspections for testing and analysis to verify their quality and compliance with prescribed regulatory standards.
Reiterating the Delhi Government’s uncompromising stand against counterfeit medicines, the Health Minister said:
“There is zero tolerance for fake or substandard medicines in Delhi. As long as I am the Health Minister, no fake medicines will be allowed to be sold in the Capital. The Drugs Control Department has been directed to take strict and continuous action against violators to protect public health.”
The Delhi Government has reaffirmed that such raids and special enforcement drives will continue across the national capital, ensuring strict compliance with drug laws and reinforcing public confidence in the healthcare system.
