Mayor of Delhi, Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, today informed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has provided appointments on compassionate grounds to 86 dependents of deceased employees. All these dependents have been appointed as daily-wage sanitation workers in the Environment Management Services Department.
The Mayor stated that this step has been taken to provide support to families who lost their loved ones while in service. He said that the Corporation’s administration remains sensitive and committed to safeguarding the interests of employees and their families. He further stated that under the BJP-led government in the MCD, the welfare, safety, and dignity of employees are given the highest priority, and this commitment will continue in the future.
The Mayor emphasized that the Corporation does not view its employees merely as a workforce, but as members of its extended family. He added that the MCD will continue to take all possible measures to protect employees’ interests, improve workplace facilities, and ensure the welfare of their families.
Chairman of the Environment Management Services Committee, Sandeep Kapoor, stated that during the past one year, the MCD has regularized 1,460 sanitation workers. Additionally, 562 dependents of deceased employees have been appointed as daily-wage sanitation workers on compassionate grounds. He said that the Corporation will continue this process in a swift and transparent manner to ensure that eligible dependents receive timely assistance.
Kapoor further stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party is continuously working towards the social and economic empowerment of sanitation workers. He also informed that the MCD has accelerated the promotion process for the posts of Sanitary Guide, Assistant Sanitary Inspector, Sanitary Inspector, and Sanitary Superintendent, so that employees can benefit from timely promotions and experience enhanced morale.
