Special Staff of West District Police has arrested a proclaimed offender and active snatcher, solving 11 criminal cases and recovering multiple stolen vehicles and mobile phones.

Acting on precise intelligence, a team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar Maurya and closely monitored by ACP Operations Vijay Singh apprehended Abhishek alias Karan (22) from Rajouri Garden on March 23, 2026. The accused, a habitual offender with a history of 13 criminal cases, was caught while riding a stolen TVS Apache motorcycle.

Subsequent interrogation led to the recovery of three stolen motorcycles, one scooty, and two mobile phones, effectively cracking five snatching cases, four motor vehicle thefts, and two mobile thefts registered across West, Central, Dwarka, and Outer Districts.

Police investigations revealed that Abhishek, a 7th class dropout from a poor family background, relied on stolen two-wheelers to commit snatching incidents. He frequently shifted residences to evade arrest and had resumed criminal activities soon after being released from jail in January 2025.

Despite being declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in one case, Abhishek continued his spree until the Special Staff’s swift operation brought him to justice. His arrest is expected to significantly reduce incidents of snatching in the district.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West District), Darade Sharad Bhaskar, IPS, commended the team’s efforts, emphasizing the department’s commitment to curbing street crime and ensuring public safety.
