MCD House Discusses Cleanliness and Waterlogging Preparedness; Several Public Welfare Proposals Approved

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House meeting, chaired by Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Thursday, witnessed extensive discussions on sanitation, waterlogging prevention, civic infrastructure, and other key public welfare issues. The meeting also saw the passage of several important proposals aimed at improving civic services and accelerating development works across the national capital.

During the proceedings, councillors from both the ruling party and the opposition were given an opportunity to present their views and raise concerns related to public welfare. Detailed deliberations focused on cleanliness drives, desilting of drains, strengthening drainage systems, and measures to prevent waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon season.

Addressing the House, Mayor Pravesh Wahi said that all elected representatives, irrespective of political affiliation, were encouraged to participate in discussions, particularly on the issue of waterlogging. He emphasized that the objective of the House is to ensure meaningful debate and collaborative solutions to issues affecting Delhi residents.

Special discussions were held on sanitation and monsoon preparedness, with councillors highlighting local concerns, suggestions, and expectations from their respective wards. The Mayor assured members that all recommendations would be examined seriously and acted upon wherever necessary.

Wahi stated that under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the MCD is working on a war footing to address waterlogging concerns before the onset of the monsoon. He said desilting operations, strengthening of drainage infrastructure, and monitoring of vulnerable locations across the city are being undertaken on priority.

According to the Mayor, modern machinery and advanced technologies are being deployed to minimize inconvenience to citizens during the rainy season. He further warned that accountability would be fixed on concerned officials in cases of negligence, and any lapses leading to waterlogging would be dealt with seriously.

The House also approved several public welfare proposals, which are expected to boost development projects and improve civic amenities across Delhi.

Concluding the meeting, Mayor Pravesh Wahi thanked all councillors for their constructive participation and reiterated the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to addressing public grievances and ensuring the overall development of the city.
