Mayor Pravesh Wahi Hoists Tricolour at MCD Headquarters, Extends Independence Day Greetings

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) marked the nation’s 80th Independence Day with a grand celebration at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civic Centre. Mayor Pravesh Wahi unfurled the National Flag and extended heartfelt greetings to MCD officials, employees, students, and citizens of Delhi.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar, senior officials, employees, and dignitaries. Following the flag hoisting, the auditorium came alive with patriotic songs and dance performances by MCD school students, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm.

Applauding the students, Mayor Wahi said their spirited performances proved that MCD school students are no less than their private school counterparts. He highlighted the holistic development opportunities being provided in MCD schools through education, sports, arts, and extracurricular activities. He noted visible improvements in infrastructure and quality of education, calling it a “positive transformation.”

Sharing a personal note, Mayor Wahi said, “I take special pride in the fact that I myself received my education at an MCD school. Seeing today’s students excel fills me with immense joy and confidence that with the right opportunities, they can achieve anything.”

He reaffirmed that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the BJP-led MCD is committed to providing world-class civic amenities and transforming Delhi into a clean, healthy, and developed capital city. He also emphasized safeguarding employee interests while improving civic services.

Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar administered an integrity pledge to officials and employees, urging them to uphold honesty, dedication, and transparency in their duties.

The celebrations concluded with renewed resolve among MCD officials and employees to work with commitment towards a cleaner, more beautiful, and better Delhi.
