The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, has secured the conviction of two accused in a mephedrone trafficking case involving the illegal transportation of narcotics from Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat.
Acting on specific intelligence, NCB officials intercepted Ashok Travels bus number MP-14-PA-0455 at Chandrala Police Naka on NH-48 in Gandhinagar on February 21, 2023. The bus was travelling from Jaora-Mandsaur to Ahmedabad.
During the interception, 198.90 grams of mephedrone was seized from the conscious possession of two accused, identified as Shahida Bibi @ Saida Bee and Radheshyam Solanki.
According to the NCB investigation, Shahida Bibi was involved in the illegal transportation and distribution of mephedrone in Ahmedabad city, while Radheshyam Solanki, the bus driver, was acting as a courier for transporting the drug from Jaora to Ahmedabad.
The case was registered under Sections 8(c), 22(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The complaint was filed before the District and Sessions Court, Gandhinagar, on August 17, 2023.
After a detailed trial, the court delivered its judgment on August 19, 2026, convicting both accused.
Shahida Bibi, wife of Hameed Khan Pathan and a resident of Sujapur, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹2 lakh.
Radheshyam Solanki, son of Rameshchandra and a resident of Jaora, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹1 lakh.
The NCB said the conviction reinforces its commitment to dismantling drug supply chains and ensuring that those involved in inter-state narcotics trafficking face the full force of law.
The agency reiterated its resolve towards the national vision of a Drug-Free India (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and urged citizens to share information related to drug trafficking through the MANAS National Narcotics Helpline at 1933, assuring that the identity of informers will remain strictly confidential.
