In a landmark step towards educational excellence, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched a Teachers’ Capacity Building Programme in collaboration with the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay – a premier institute of national importance.
Speaking on the occasion, NDMC Chairman, Keshav Chandra, highlighted that this is the first-ever structured teacher training collaboration between NDMC and IIT Bombay, designed to strengthen teaching competencies in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He emphasized that the initiative will empower educators to become future-ready, holistic, and value-driven mentors for their students.
The programme’s specially curated modules will cover the Emerging Pedagogies, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Virtual Reality (VR) in Teaching and Mental Health & Well-being.
OSD (Education), NDMC, Smt. Ranjana Deshwal informed that 240 teachers will undergo this advanced training, equipping them with cutting-edge methodologies, innovative classroom strategies, and the ability to integrate technology with cultural and traditional wisdom.
Reinforcing NDMC’s commitment to progressive education, Director (Education), Ms. Kritika Chaudhary, said the collaboration marks a transformative step towards Viksit Bharat, where empowered teachers will act as catalysts of educational reform and drive holistic learning experiences for students.
This pioneering partnership with IIT Bombay stands as a milestone in NDMC’s journey to deliver quality, future-ready, and value-based education to the capital city’s young learners.
