Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today held a roadshow on Maharishi Valmiki Marg in Dakshinpuri in support of BJP candidate Rohini Raj from Ward-164, ahead of the 30 November MCD by-election. Member of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri also joined the event.
Speaking at the roadshow, the Chief Minister said that despite decades of habitation, the conditions in Dakshinpuri have not improved. She personally reviewed the state of broken roads, dilapidated public toilets and inadequate basic facilities. She noted that although residents trusted the jhaadu symbol for years, there was no improvement in water supply, road construction, sewer lines, new schools, colleges, ration cards or pensions. She urged the public to reflect on why those who delivered nothing should continue to receive their vote.
The Chief Minister said Dakshinpuri now needs honest and development-oriented leadership. She highlighted that within just ten months of forming the government, a special budget of ₹100 crore has been approved for Deoli Assembly, covering new pipelines, sewer lines, road works and other essential infrastructure.
She emphasised that development will reach people effectively only when the MP, MLA and Councillor work in coordination. To ensure the full benefit of Central Government schemes reaches every household, she urged voters to press the lotus button. She added that ending water scarcity, eliminating the tanker mafia and ensuring clean drinking water for every home are key priorities. Schemes such as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, new pensions, new ration cards, sewer line expansion and road construction are ready for implementation but require an elected councillor.
The chief minister said those who failed to provide pucca houses, build educational institutions or improve living conditions for years must now be held accountable. She noted that under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mission to provide permanent housing to every poor family is progressing rapidly, and the Delhi Government is working with the same resolve.
The Chief Minister thanked the people of Dakshinpuri for the overwhelming support and blessings shown during the roadshow. The Chief Minister concluded that Dakshinpuri’s destiny is set to change, a new chapter will be written, and the power to shape this future lies in the hands of the people through the lotus button.
