A cleanliness rally was organized today in the Civil Lines zone of MCD under the leadership of Mayor of Delhi Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh and Chairperson of the Standing Committee Satya Sharma. The cleanliness rally started from Kirori Mal College of Delhi University and ended at Patel Chest. The purpose of organizing the cleanliness rally was to make the citizens aware about cleanliness. Civil Lines zone chairman Gulab Singh, local councillor Rekha, Civil Lines zone deputy commissioner Anshul Sirohi, MCD officers and employees, local citizens and Delhi University’s students were also present in the swachhata rally. On this occasion, all the people participating in the rally were administered the cleanliness pledge and a signature campaign was also organised.
Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh said that the campaign started by Delhi’s hon’ble Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to make Delhi free from garbage” has today taken the form of a mass movement. He said that we have to assure the people of Delhi that MCD is with them to solve their problems. Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh said that today I appeal to the people to contribute in the campaign to keep Delhi clean, adopt clean habits, use dustbins to throw garbage, separate the garbage and put wet garbage in green dustbin and dry garbage in blue dustbin. He said that public cooperation is expected in this campaign to make Delhi clean.
- Satya Sharma Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi said that we have pledged to serve the nation in the form of Swachhata Abhiyan. She said that 11 years ago Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan taking it forward the Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta has launched the “Delhi Ko Koode Se Azadi” campaign from 1st to 31st August. Satya Sharma said that the MCD is fulfilling its responsibility very well and with the public’s support to make Delhi clean, this journey of cleanliness will be even better. She appealed to the public that it is the responsibility of all of us to keep Delhi clean and we should keep it clean.
We should all contribute to the campaign launched by the Prime Minister in the name of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and plant a tree. She said that this area of Delhi University is green because these trees must have been planted by someone, so we should also plant trees for the coming generation.

Gulab Singh, Chairman Civil Lines zone said on the occasion that the "Delhi ko Koode se Azadi" campaign is a very good initiative. We have to involve more and more citizens in this initiative so that they can also discharge their responsibility towards cleanliness. Shri Gulab Singh said that if we remain clean, we will remain healthy and avoid diseases. He said that this campaign to keep Delhi clean will continue.
