As part of the ongoing 10-Day Dust Free Delhi Drive, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified sanitation and dust control efforts across the West Zone. A special railway track cleaning drive was undertaken to remove accumulated waste and improve environmental conditions in surrounding areas.
During the drive, around 100 Safai Karamcharis were deployed to carry out intensive cleaning operations along railway tracks. The teams successfully cleared a 1.2 km stretch of railway track, removing 42 metric tonnes of waste. The initiative aims to prevent garbage accumulation along railway corridors and reduce dust pollution in nearby residential areas.
The West Zone also recorded a significant increase in the collection of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste. On 10 March 2026, a total of 462 metric tonnes of C&D waste was collected, compared to 304 metric tonnes collected on 09 March 2026, reflecting improved field operations and intensified monitoring under the special drive. The MCD continues to carry out targeted sanitation measures to ensure cleaner surroundings and support the objective of making Delhi dust-free.
