The House meeting of the MCD witnessed several important decisions taken in the interest of the citizens of Delhi. Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh stated that today’s House meeting concluded after nearly four hours in a thoughtful and result-oriented atmosphere. The primary focus of the meeting was the increasing problem of air and dust pollution in the national capital. At present, pollution has emerged as a serious challenge, and councillors presented several practical and concrete suggestions to address it.
During the meeting, Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh said that air pollution is a serious concern for Delhi. Therefore, both the ruling and opposition members were given full opportunity to present their views, suggestions, and concerns. “For us, the opinions of both sides are equally significant, and we welcome every suggestion. It is the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to uphold democratic values and ensure that every councillor has the right to express their views.”
After detailed discussions on the suggestions and data presented on air pollution, the Mayor issued clear directions to the officials to immediately begin concrete, time-bound, and result-oriented action for pollution control. Priority will be given to measures such as dust control along roadsides, strict monitoring of construction sites, action against instances of garbage burning, and special cleanliness drives in affected areas.
He added that no instance of burning waste, dry leaves, or biomass will be tolerated in any ward. For this, special night and early-morning patrolling teams have been deployed to ensure immediate action against any violation. Additionally, to reduce dust pollution, officials have been instructed to expedite the repair and patchwork of damaged roads.
Mayor informed that several important proposals were also passed in the House meeting while keeping the welfare of citizens at the center. These proposals will play a crucial role in strengthening cleanliness, improving environmental conditions, upgrading civic amenities, and enhancing the efficiency of the corporation’s functioning.
Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh stated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is fully committed to improving the health and living standards of its citizens. The cooperation and awareness demonstrated by all councillors on a sensitive issue like pollution reflect a collective determination to make Delhi a cleaner, safer, and more livable city.
