On the historic occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, the national flag was ceremonially hoisted at the Police Headquarters, Delhi, by Rajesh Khurana, Special Commissioner of Police (P&FD). The event, held at the PHQ Lawns, brought together officers and personnel across ranks, united under the spirit of patriotism and service.
Extending greetings on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Khurana conveyed heartfelt wishes to the Delhi Police family and their loved ones. He reminded the gathering that Independence Day is not only a celebration of freedom but also a solemn tribute to the sacrifices made during the nation’s freedom struggle.

Emphasising the values of justice, equality, dignity, and liberty, Shri Khurana underlined the responsibility of the police force to safeguard these ideals. He urged personnel to remain steadfast in protecting citizens’ rights, maintaining peace and public order, and tackling crime with professionalism, competence, and sensitivity.
The Spl. CP commended the unwavering dedication of officers who serve under demanding circumstances, often away from their families. He paid homage to the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, calling their sacrifice the highest form of service to the nation.
The ceremony concluded with renewed resolve among the Delhi Police to uphold the values of freedom while ensuring the safety and security of the capital city.
