New Delhi, September 1 — Delhi Mayor Shri Pravesh Wahi has reviewed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s ongoing campaign against vector‑borne diseases, noting a significant 46% decline in dengue cases this year compared to the same period in 2025.
At the meeting held on August 31, officials from the Public Health Department presented detailed updates on surveillance, fogging, and insecticide spraying. Mayor Wahi directed them to intensify monitoring and ensure weekly reviews, stressing close coordination with public representatives to strengthen field‑level action.
Key Measures Undertaken by MCD
- Fogging and insecticide spraying carried out at 1,197 locations across Delhi.
- Targeted operations at construction sites, religious places, parks, schools, and health centres.
- Intensified surveillance and immediate response at potential mosquito breeding sites.
Mayor Wahi highlighted that Delhi recorded 311 dengue cases up to August 31 this year, compared to 499 cases during the same period last year. He attributed the decline to multi‑level efforts by the Corporation and urged citizens to cooperate with field staff by preventing water stagnation in and around their homes.
Additional Commissioner Dr. Satendra Singh Dursawat, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Ashok Rawat, Dr. Lallan Verma, and Deputy Health Officers from all 12 zones attended the review meeting.
Mayor Wahi reiterated that preventing mosquito breeding remains the most effective safeguard against dengue and other vector‑borne diseases, and called for collective responsibility to sustain the progress achieved.
