Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood visited the area after a newly constructed portion of a house collapsed in Milan Garden, under Harsh Vihar police station limits in northeast Delhi, on Sunday.
Two people are feared trapped under the debris, while seven fire tenders and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) team are engaged in rescue and relief operations.
The incident triggered panic in the locality, with a large number of residents gathering at the spot after the structure came crashing down. The collapse prompted an immediate response from the Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police.
Police personnel and officials from the concerned departments rushed to the site after receiving information about the incident. A disaster management team from the DDMA also reached the spot and joined the rescue operation.
Seven fire tenders are currently working alongside the DDMA team to assess the situation and carry out rescue efforts. Teams are focusing on the collapsed portion and the debris amid fears that two people may be trapped underneath.
