On the occasion of Vishwakarma Day and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, announced the establishment of 500 crèche centers for the better upbringing of workers’ and laborers’ young children. During the event organized on Vishwakarma Day, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this initiative will be a significant support, especially for our hardworking Vishwakarma mothers. These crèche centers will provide children with proper nutrition and care while ensuring the livelihood of the mothers remains secure.
Today, the Labour Department of the Delhi Government, in association with the Delhi Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, organized a Vishwakarma Puja Festival on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day. Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Labour Minister Shri Kapil Mishra was present as the Guest of Honour. The event began with Vedic rituals at the VR Metropolitan Construction Site in Civil Lines. Hundreds of workers, officials from the Labour Department, and representatives were present. Several workers were also felicitated by the Chief Minister during the program.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta personally interacted with the workers to understand their issues and assured them of the government’s commitment. Extending her greetings for Vishwakarma Day, the Chief Minister said, “Though we celebrate Vishwakarma Day tomorrow, we began the celebrations today with this event. I am extremely delighted to be among my Vishwakarma brothers. I extend my heartfelt wishes and congratulations to all of you. Your hard work, honesty, and dedication will always take you forward.”
on a construction site, two workers were working: one was lamenting his fate while the other performed the same work with joy and pride. One worker saw it as destiny, while the other considered himself fortunate to contribute to such a magnificent structure. She added that this mindset is what drives progress. Without the dedication and effort of workers, no state can develop. Engineers can plan, owners can invest, and governments can grant permissions, but it is the worker who truly builds the structure. This is why Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi always emphasizes and implements the welfare of the poor.

The Chief Minister further said that in the last 27 years, whether it was a Congress government or the Aam Aadmi Party, no substantial welfare schemes for laborers and the poor were implemented. However, under Modi leadership, the Delhi Government ensured the uniform implementation of minimum wages throughout the city, whether a worker is employed in a government or private institution. Now, no worker will be subjected to low wages.
Most workers in Delhi live in rented accommodations or slums. For the first time, a government has resolved that providing a home to every slum dweller is our duty. Although it will take time, as previous governments left the treasury empty, I assure you that providing a roof over every poor’s head is our top priority. Our pledge is that every poor child can study in good schools, receive quality education, and that no poor person dies due to lack of medical treatment. Under the Ayushman Scheme, now poor and worker families can avail free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh. By implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the Delhi Government ensures that even worker families receive free treatment up to ₹10 lakh so that their families remain safe in any adverse situation. Alongside, education, healthcare, and housing-related schemes are being prioritized.
Chief Minister assured everyone that Delhi is your city, and she is available 24×7. For any issue or requirement, workers can directly reach out to her. The Delhi Government will make every effort to ensure a secure and accessible life for all.
At the event, Hon’ble Labour Minister Shri Kapil Mishra said, “On this auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all worker brothers and sisters. You are the real backbone of our society and nation. The dream of ‘Developed India, Developed Delhi’ is possible only through the efforts of hardworking brothers like you. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Delhi Government is running several welfare schemes for workers, whose benefits are reaching your families directly. Women are now allowed to work in night shifts, providing them more opportunities to showcase their talent and skills.”
Kapil Mishra further stated, “This government is continuously striving to protect the respect and rights of workers. Whether it concerns minimum wages, working hours, or family safety, the Delhi Government has introduced historic schemes for all these aspects.”
