Chairperson, Standing Committee,MCD Satya Sharma today inspected the Ghazipur Landfill Site and reviewed the progress of biomining and waste disposal work being carried out there.
During the inspection, Additional Commissioner Shri Leeladhar Meghwal, Chairman, Shahdara (South) Zone Shri Ram Kishore Sharma, Zonal DC Shri Badal Kumar other senior MCD officials were present.
. Sharma directed officials to install additional machines to reduce the height of the garbage mound and to utilize modern technology and advanced equipment to speed up the biomining process.
She informed that biomining work at the Ghazipur Sanitary Landfill Site is currently in its second phase, and once this phase is completed, the third phase will begin. The plan for the next phase has already been prepared, and tenders will be issued shortly.She further stated that a new Waste-to-Energy Plant will be established at the Ghazipur site, which will facilitate both waste processing and energy generation.
Sharma claimed the Ghazipur landfill will be completely cleared by the end of 2027. She said this would be a historic step towards improving cleanliness and environmental conditions in Delhi.
Highlighting the BJP government’s commitment, she said In the past six months, the BJP government has been working quietly and effectively on the ground. The previous govt. limited itself to promises and publicity. Through continuous and result-oriented efforts, we will achieve our target ahead of schedule.”
She further stated that she would revisit the Ghazipur Landfill Site next month to assess progress and ensure adherence to timelines. She said that the BJP-led MCD is committed to eliminating all landfill sites across Delhi and making the national capital clean, green, and pollution-free.
