In a breathtaking display of spiritual unity and feminine power, Vasudev Ghat on the Yamuna River transformed into a sacred amphitheatre on 16 November 2025. Led by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, thousands of women recited the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram in unison, their voices echoing with resolve, reverence, and resistance.
The Mahashakti Aradhana Programme, jointly organised by the Delhi Sanskrit Academy and Vishwamangalya Sabha, marked a historic first since IndependenceтАФa mass spiritual gathering of women invoking Goddess DurgaтАЩs strength to protect the nation from fear and division.
Chief Minister Gupta urged women to rise as protectors and builders of society, declaring, тАЬIf a daughter from a humble home can become Chief Minister, then every woman can reach the skyтАФshe only needs to take one step forward.тАЭ Her words stirred hearts and inspired action.
Culture Minister Kapil Mishra hailed the event as тАЬunprecedented,тАЭ praising the Chief MinisterтАЩs leadership in reviving DelhiтАЩs cultural soulтАФfrom Teej to Chhath, and now this divine recital. He reminded the gathering that awakened maternal power has birthed heroes like Shivaji and will vanquish modern-day threats.
The evening culminated in a grand Maha Aarti to Goddess Yamuna, with thousands joining in prayer for a cleaner, freer river and a stronger, united India.
