New Delhi/Noida/Gurugram/Ghaziabad, October 9: Security has been tightened across Delhi-NCR ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10.

Delhi Police has denied permission for the protest, while additional personnel have been deployed at key border points in Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram. With prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in force in the New Delhi area, police are conducting checks on suspicious vehicles and keeping a close watch on people entering the national capital.

Permission Denied for Protest at Jantar MantarJoint Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said police received an application on October 7 regarding the proposed protest scheduled for October 10. She said applications seeking permission for protests are required to be submitted at least 10 days in advance, in accordance with the applicable procedure.According to Delhi Police, Section 163 of the BNSS is in force in the New Delhi area. In view of the prevailing situation and the need to maintain public safety and law and order, permission for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar has been denied.
Police also said that on previous occasions when CJP was granted permission to hold protests, the organisers had allegedly failed to comply with the prescribed rules and commitments.Police have warned that legal action will be taken against those violating the restrictions under Section 163, disturbing public order or damaging public property.
Noida: Police, BSF Deployed at Chilla BorderSecurity has been stepped up at the Chilla Border in Noida, where personnel from Noida Police, Delhi Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have been deployed.A heavy police presence has been put in place, with personnel checking suspicious vehicles and questioning people whose movements or activities appear suspicious.

Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) barricades have also been brought to the border as part of the heightened security arrangements.
According to information available locally, authorities are preparing to seal the border from 9 pm. The exact nature and scope of the proposed restrictions are yet to be independently confirmed.
Ghaziabad: One RAF Platoon Deployed at Ghazipur BorderSecurity has also been tightened along the Ghaziabad-Delhi border. One platoon of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), comprising 50 personnel, has been deployed at the Ghazipur Border.

Delhi Police personnel have also been positioned on elevated watch platforms, locally known as *machaans*, to maintain a wider view of the border area and respond promptly to any suspicious activity.

Gurugram: Increased Vigilance at Borders, Metro StationsGurugram Police has also stepped up security ahead of the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar. Police personnel have been deployed at border areas adjoining Delhi, railway stations, bus terminals and major metro stations. Awareness banners have been put up to inform commuters about the restrictions.Police checkpoints have been established at key entry points to Delhi, including the Sirhaul Border on NH-48, Palam Vihar, the Gurugram-Dwarka border and the Kaliyawas Border.
Vehicles are being checked at these locations, with officers of ACP rank supervising security arrangements at several checkpoints.Police are keeping a close watch on suspected troublemakers and individuals who may attempt to disrupt law and order.Authorities are also contacting officials of educational institutions, colleges and universities, as well as professors and students, to inform them about the restrictions and advise them against participating in unauthorised gatherings.Gurugram Police has said that while security remains a priority, efforts are also being made to ensure that the movement of commuters continues smoothly and traffic congestion is minimised.
