In the wake of the recent incident in Lucknow, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will launch a special inspection drive targeting coaching centres in Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar area.
As part of the exercise, MCD officials will inspect coaching institutes to verify compliance with safety norms and fire safety regulations. The drive aims to ensure that all mandatory safety measures are in place to protect students.
The inspection teams will examine fire safety arrangements, including the availability and functioning of firefighting equipment and emergency preparedness measures.
Officials will also check entry and exit points at coaching centres to ensure that evacuation routes are safe and unobstructed in case of an emergency.
Additionally, the MCD will assess whether coaching centres are operating within the permissible occupancy limits of their buildings. Teams will verify that the number of students attending classes does not exceed the building’s approved capacity.
The inspection drive is part of the civic body’s efforts to strengthen safety standards at educational institutions and prevent incidents arising from overcrowding or inadequate safety infrastructure.
