Hon’ble Mayor of Delhi Pravesh Wahi today flagged off 56 additional vehicles today to bolster the sanitation fleet in the Narela zone. Pravesh Wahi stated that additional vehicles have already been inducted to strengthen sanitation operations in three other zones so far.

Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi said that additional vehicles had previously been inducted to strengthen sanitation systems in the Rohini, Shahdara North and Shahdara South zones with the inclusion of the Narela zone today the total count has reached four. He added that additional vehicles would soon be inducted into the remaining zones of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi as well. Shri Pravesh Wahi informed that a total of 56 additional vehicles comprising 32 auto-tippers, 16 Hyva trucks, and 8 JCBs have been inducted for the Narela zone.

Mayor Pravesh Wahi directed the Deputy Commissioner of the Narela zone and the Executive Engineer of the DEMS to ensure that these additional vehicles are effectively utilized to strengthen the sanitation system in the zone. He said that no garbage should be visible anywhere on the main roads. Shri Pravesh Wahi said that Narela is the first area one encounters upon entering Delhi from Haryana and Punjab therefore it should look befitting of the national capital.
Pravesh Wahi affirmed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s commitment to realizing the visions of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a ‘Swachh Bharat’ and Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta for a clean and green Delhi. He emphasized the need to make cleanliness a habit and to take a strict stance against the practice of littering in public spaces.
Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi said that the interests of sanitation workers are being prioritised and efforts are underway to regularize them and recently a seniority list of sanitation workers was released. He remarked that keeping Delhi clean is not solely the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi but the cooperation of citizens is also essential. He urged citizens to segregate their waste into four categories before disposing it off in the garbage collection vehicles.
North West Delhi MP Yogendra Chandolia recalled that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Swachh Bharat’ initiative from the ramparts of the Red Fort in 2014, he was the Mayor of Delhi and was struck by the Prime Minister’s deep commitment to cleanliness. He added that ensuring there is no garbage in the vicinity is the responsibility of every resident of Delhi.
Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Leader of House and Standing Committee member directed officials to ensure the smooth operation of garbage collection vehicles and emphasized the goal of making Narela the most beautiful among Delhi’s 12 municipal zones. He stated that it is the responsibility of all sanitation inspectors and staff to ensure that no garbage is visible anywhere on the roads.
