Kanwar Yatra has already commenced at several locations ahead of the holy month of Sawan. From July 11 onwards, a massive influx of pilgrims is expected on the Kanwar route.
Mayor of Delhi Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, along with Delhi’s Minister of Law and Culture Kapil Mishra, today conducted an inspection of the Kanwar Yatra route from Apsara Border to ISBT Kashmere Gate. The purpose of the visit was to review the preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra. During the inspection MLAs Ajay Mahawar, Sanjay Goyal, Anil Sharma, Pradyuman Rajput, Tilak Ram Gupta and senior officials from the Delhi Government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi were also present.
Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government and MCD are fully prepared to welcome the devotees participating in the sacred Kanwar Yatra. To ensure the comfort and safety of the pilgrims, mobile toilets, health check-up camps, and first-aid centers have been set up near Kanwar camps. Additionally, officials have been instructed to maintain cleanliness around the camps and to carry out regular spraying of anti-dengue, malaria, and chikungunya medicines.
Mayor Singh added, “Devotees are welcome to come with full faith and devotion. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will leave no stone unturned in providing services and facilities. Our officers and staff are working with complete dedication and commitment.”
Minister Kapil Mishra emphasized that the government had already announced the provision of free electricity and designated spaces for Kanwar camps. He further informed that meat shops in Delhi will remain closed during the Kanwar Yatra. Most of these shops are usually operated illegally, and the decision to shut them down was taken jointly by the Delhi Government and MCD.
