In line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a technologically empowered India, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairperson of NDMC, conducted an extensive on-ground review of preparations for the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled from 16–20 February in New Delhi.
Smart Surveillance and Monitoring
The review began at the NDMC Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC), described by Shri Chahal as the “third eye of the city”.
- 333 NDMC CCTV cameras, 183 Delhi Police cameras, and 214 PWD cameras are integrated for 24×7 surveillance.
- A dedicated traffic helpline has been set up with Delhi Traffic Police.
- All sanitation and service vehicles are tracked via GPS, with 959 RFID-enabled bins, jetting machines, sweepers, anti-smog guns, and water tankers monitored in real time.
Cleanliness and Zero Waste Zones
NDMC has identified 99 hot spots across hotels, markets, and high-footfall areas for multi-trip garbage collection. A strict zero-accumulation policy is in place, supported by mechanised sweeping and night-time garbage lifting.
Environmental Safety and Citizen Services
- 20 air quality sensors track 6–8 parameters, alerting departments of abnormalities.
- Complaints via the NDMC 311 App are routed instantly to concerned officers with real-time updates.
- A 24×7 multi-department control team ensures prompt grievance redressal.
Beautification and Infrastructure Upgradation
Shri Chahal inspected major stretches including Palika Kendra, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Akbar Road, and Sardar Patel Marg.
- 15,000 decorative plants, 4,000 hanging baskets, floral boards, and fountains are being installed.
- A Tulip Festival at Shanti Path will coincide with the Summit.
- 41 major roads are being upgraded with new signage, lighting, footpaths, and safety devices.
- Prominent buildings and junctions will feature special illumination.
AI Summit Significance
Chahal emphasized that under PM Modi Ji’s leadership, Artificial Intelligence has become a pillar of global innovation and employment generation. The Summit, themed “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for All, Happiness for All), will showcase India’s technological capabilities and global leadership in AI.
He lauded NDMC officers, engineers, and staff for their tireless efforts, expressing confidence that NDMC will present a clean, safe, smart, and beautiful capital city to the world.
