Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory warning commuters of significant diversions and restrictions on Asaf Ali Road due to ongoing construction work linked to the redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station. The affected stretch will remain partially closed from 26 February to 12 March 2026.
One side of the carriageway on Asaf Ali Road (Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate via Delight Cinema) will remain closed during this period. Traffic movement is expected to be heavily affected and restricted, causing delays for motorists and railway passengers heading towards the New Delhi Railway Station and nearby areas.
The closure also extends to Chaman Lal Marg, further tightening traffic flow in the Central Range.
Alternate Routes for Commuters
To minimize inconvenience, Delhi Traffic Police has suggested the following diversions:
- Route 1: From Hamdard Chowk or R/A Kamla Market → Minto Road → DDU Marg → BSZ Marg → Delhi Gate Chowk.
- Route 2: From Guru Nanak Chowk → Mirdard Chowk → Mirdard Marg → BSZ Marg → Delhi Gate Chowk.
