Manohar Lal Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Government of India today inspected the Bhalswa Landfill Site and reviewed the progress of the ongoing Bio-mining and Bio-remediation works related to disposal of legacy waste.

Manohar Lal Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs conducted a detailed inspection today of the Bio-mining and waste processing operations currently underway at the Bhalswa Landfill Site. Shri Manohar Lal said that a target has been set to completely clear this landfill site within a stipulated timeframe and work is proceeding on a war footing to achieve this objective.

Manohar Lal said that in order to eliminate this massive mountain of waste situated at the Bhalswa Landfill Site the process of legacy waste disposal has been accelerated through the application of scientific and modern technologies. While ensuring strict adherence to environmental standards, continuous efforts are being made to enhance cleanliness, health safety and civic amenities in the surrounding areas.

Manohar Lal said that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and in realization of the vision of the Swachh Bharat Mission the Central Government remains fully committed to providing the citizens of Delhi with a clean and pollution-free environment. To fulfil this commitment all necessary steps are being rapidly undertaken to ensure the disposal of the accumulated waste at the Bhalswa Landfill Site within the designated timeframe.
Shri Gulab Singh, Chairman Civil Lines Zone; Shri Sanjeev Khirwar,Commissioner MCD; Shri Shashi Pratap Singh,Deputy Commissioner Civil Lines Zone and Shri P.C. Meena Engineer in Chief and other senior officials were also present during the inspection.
