Naini Lake Set for ₹9.73 Crore Rejuvenation and Beautification Under AMRUT 2.0

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is undertaking the rejuvenation and beautification of Naini Lake in Model Town, Ward No. 68, Keshav Puram Zone, at a contractual cost of ₹9.73 crore under the AMRUT 2.0 Scheme.

The development work was inaugurated today in the presence of Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, MLA Ashok Goyal, Area Councillor Vikesh Sethi, and Deputy Commissioner Mohit Bansal.

The project aims to enhance the environmental, aesthetic and recreational value of the lake while promoting sustainable water management and improving the overall experience for visitors.

As part of the project, treated STP water from the Coronation Pillar STP will be conveyed to Naini Lake. The excess treated water will also be utilised for irrigation of nearby municipal parks, thereby promoting the efficient reuse of treated wastewater.

The major works under the project include installation of decorative lighting, horticultural development, remodelling of the peripheral RCC drain, installation of two musical fountains, and repair of the existing grill and boundary.

The rejuvenation project is expected to transform Naini Lake into a cleaner, greener and more attractive public space, providing citizens with an improved recreational and environmental asset.

The project is expected to be completed by July 2027.
