Lt Governor Delhi Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu to make the Master Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047) more easily understandable for citizens and stakeholders, and to enable their active participation in the city’s development, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has initiated a series of digital outreach measures to facilitate wider public participation in the implementation of the Master Plan.
As part of this initiative, DDA has made available a comprehensive set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on MPD-2047 on its official website, under the “What’s New” section. The FAQs provide citizens and stakeholders with simple, easily accessible information on the various provisions of the Plan. They cover a wide spectrum of subjects, including General Provisions, Development Control Norms, Redevelopment, Heritage and Public Spaces, Land Pooling Policy, Transit Oriented Development (TOD), High Density Corridors (HDC), Low Density Areas (LDA), and In-situ Slum Rehabilitation (ISR).
The FAQs also address several practical aspects of MPD-2047, including land use and permissible activities, FAR and plot requirements, parking, Transferable Development Rights (TDR), eligibility and development models under Land Pooling, and eligibility, development norms and approval processes under TOD and other policies. The resource is intended to help citizens, landowners, professionals, developers, residents’ groups and other stakeholders better understand the provisions and opportunities envisaged under the Master Plan.
DDA has also introduced the “MPD-2047 (Feedback)” facility through its Citizen Services platform, enabling citizens and stakeholders to directly share their suggestions and feedback related to the Master Plan. Accessible at citzservices.dda.org.in, users simply need to sign up on the platform, after which the “MPD-2047 (Feedback)” option becomes visible in the menu bar. Besides, it is also be accessed under “At Your Service” section.
The feedback facility provides a direct channel for citizens and stakeholders to place their views before DDA, facilitating continued dialogue and a more participatory approach towards the MPD-2047.
To further simplify the understanding of the Master Plan, DDA has also made available creatives and other visual communication material covering various themes and provisions of MPD-2047. These resources present planning concepts and key provisions in a simple and accessible manner, enabling citizens and stakeholders to better understand the development framework and opportunities envisaged under the Plan.
These digital initiatives complement DDA’s ongoing three-month stakeholder engagement programme, under which 20 meetings are scheduled on various aspects of MPD-2047. The engagement will bring together elected representatives, government agencies and service providers, industry bodies, architects and planners, residents’ and group housing representatives, farmers and landowners, and other concerned stakeholders.
The stakeholder discussions will focus on key implementation areas including TOD, HDC, Land Pooling, LDA, private-sector participation, promotion of industry, redevelopment of group housing, Yamuna and blue-green areas, heritage conservation, mixed-use development, redevelopment of commercial centres, in-situ slum redevelopment and decongestion. Separate discussions are also scheduled on the development of education and medical hubs.
The initiative reflects DDA’s commitment to making the implementation of the Master Plan a participatory and inclusive process, with greater awareness, dialogue and collective stakeholder engagement contributing towards building a more sustainable, connected, inclusive and future-ready Delhi.
