An old, unauthorized building in Seemapuri, reportedly occupied by Rohingya families, collapsed for the second day in succession, leaving behind a trail of devastation. Rescue teams have so far pulled out 11 persons from the debris, while three lives have been lost, including a child and a young pregnant woman.
The fact that the building was occupied by Rohingya families has drawn attention to issues of illegal habitation, urban safety, and accountability.

Among the injured shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Tahirpur, are victims ranging from a 3тАСyearтАСold child to a 56тАСyearтАСold man. The deceased include a 12тАСyearтАСold girl (identity pending), Gulafsa (21, four months pregnant), and another child whose details are yet to be confirmed.

The collapse has sparked panic and outrage in the locality.
DCP Rajendra Prasad Meena confirmed that police have secured the site and are probing all angles тАФ from structural negligence to possible lapses in safety.
