Delhi is set to get its first government-led international-standard Ice Skating Rink in Sector-23, Dwarka. Spread over 4,200 sqm, the upcoming facility will include an Olympic-size rink (60m x 30m) that can host Ice Skating, Ice Hockey, and Curling.
Planned as a landmark sporting avenue under the guidance of Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the ice skating rink project is being undertaken by the Delhi Development Authority on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Upon its commissioning, it will serve as a dual-purpose space – strengthening NCR’s sports infrastructure and creating new recreational opportunities for citizens.
Spread over 4,200 sqm in Sector-23, Dwarka, the project enjoys excellent connectivity through the Urban Extension Road (UER), Dwarka Expressway, and the airport tunnel linking Sector-21, Dwarka with Terminal 3 of IGI Airport. The upcoming facility will house an Olympic-size rink measuring 60m x 30m, capable of hosting Ice Skating, Ice Hockey, and Curling. It will have modern amenities such as Food & Beverage outlets, a Rehabilitation Room, and a Sports Shop, ensuring world-class standards. The project is expected to be completed by May, next year.
Speaking at the occasion, Lt. Governor said that the project would open new avenues for India to strengthen its presence in global winter sports. He added that with year-round access to an Olympic-size rink, aspiring athletes will, in the future, be able to train at par with international standards, enhancing their competitiveness at global platforms such as the Winter Olympic Games and the Asian Winter Games
The project has been awarded to an agency on license fee basis for 15 years. The agency will be responsible for construction and operation of the facility.
DDA currently manages 18 Sports Complexes, 4 Mini Sports Complexes, and 3 Golf Courses across Delhi. The newly added Ice Skating Rink project in Dwarka is set to further strengthen the city’s sports infrastructure.

Dwarka is emerging as a model sub-city for sports, greenery, and modern urban infrastructure. The country’s longest 18-hole golf course at Sector-24 and the first Centre of Excellence in sports, equipped with modern facilities, are already operational. Two more centers of excellence under development, offering a range of indoor and outdoor games, are poised to make Dwarka a hub for professional training and public recreation.

Additionally, DDA is transforming Dwarka into the most developed sub-city through its housing schemes ranging from affordable to premium homes, along with upgraded roads, modern community centers, and efficient sewage treatment systems. Further, the Bharat Vandana Park, spread across a 200-acre area, is another ambitious project of DDA that is nearing completion. Conceived as a blend of heritage, ecology, and recreation, the park will feature ‘Mini India,’ a fun park, skywalks, and several water bodies, thereby promoting a sustainable and citizen-centric urban environment.
once completed, it will be open for all and training facilities will also be provided for the enthusiasts. This will be another recreational avenue for the people of Delhi.
